Teaser Tuesdays

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. The idea is to give everyone a look inside the book you’re reading.

1.) Grab your current read

2.) Open to a random page

3.) Share two teaser sentences from that page

4.) Share the title and author so that other participants know what you’re reading.

Be careful not to include spoilers. You don’t want to ruin the book for others!

Studying this image (after I smuggled the book home from the library — easy enough with a baggy coat and a bit of senile mumbling), I tried to imagine what it must have been like, for those first settlers who arrived in the wilderness that would become the Kingdom of Ohio. Sitting in my apartment (the room silent except for the avocado-colored fridge wheezing in one corner), I picture how they would have staggered to the edge of the lake that was their destination.

  1. Good stuff JBR. Here’s mine, opening chapter of The Legend of Wolfboy – published anonymously by author in contract dispute w/ previous publisher. It begins publishing as it’s written this week. http://LegendOfWolfboy.com/ Reviewers can contact the site for a review copy before it’s public.
    β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”

Dusk was deepening toward another dark summer night and the chilly mountain air felt like frigid fingers running down their spines.

A near-full moon began to peak through the majestic mountain pines that dominate the western slope of the California Sierra Nevada mountain range, adding to what was already an eerie atmosphere.

β€œIt was seven years ago today,” Ryan growled, his voice breaking the silence on this starless night, June 13, 1995. β€œThe car radio said severe thunderstorms were threatening to hit the Sierras, but the Jacksons were set on going on their annual family vacation to Shaver Creek.”
